Four
Practical Home Wireless Security Tips
Some forego home wireless security because
of the costs. It is true that modern and brand new security
devices can be quite expensive. You don’t have to break your
budget though just to secure your home. There are a couple of
practical tips you can use to support a basic alarm system.
#1- Don’t forget barrels and
bolts.
Before alarms were ever invented, there were
barrels and bolts. Even today, these old school home security
items have retained their value. Rather than informing you of
an entry, these help prevent actual entry. Aside from
installing bolts on doors, make sure your windows have secure
locks too.
#2- Invest in good
lighting.
Burglars often rely on the dark to do their
work. If you install reliable outdoor lights however, you
may be able to deter them from even approaching your lawn.
You don’t have to keep your outdoor lights on for the
entire night. A more environmentally friendly option is to
use outdoor lights with sensors. These can turn on when
people approach your property late in the night. This
element of surprise can be an additional deterrent.
#3- Keep a pet dog.
Elements of a home wireless security system
don’t have to come in the form of devices. Your good old pet
dog can be a sensible option to keep intruders away. Even if
your dog does not bite, it can still offer protection if you
train it to bark at strangers. In a sense, dogs are live alarms
that can alert you of an intrusion.
#4- Use mock signs and
devices.
This is a controversial tip but many
homeowners still opt for it. Instead of installing real
security cameras, you can set up cheaper mock cameras. You can
also put up beware of dog signs even if you don’t have one.
Fake signs and devices are supposed to serve as deterrents. Do
bear in mind though that some burglars are quick enough to see
through such a trick.
You should seriously consider getting a home
wireless security system. Even if you don’t have a big budget,
you can’t afford to compromise your home. Settle for affordable
options for your safety and security.
